Sofirn SC33 vs SureFire EDC2-DFT size comparison

SC33 vs EDC2-DFT: how they differ

Size and weight

The Sofirn SC33 is the shorter light: 131 mm (5.16 in) against 150 mm (5.91 in), a difference of 19 mm (13%). At their widest points they are about the same (32 vs 32 mm). Weights are published on different bases (Sofirn SC33: 110 g without battery; SureFire EDC2-DFT: 159 g listed), so they are not directly comparable.

Brightness and throw

The Sofirn SC33 is rated brighter: 5,200 lm maximum vs 700 lm for the SureFire EDC2-DFT, 643% more.

Battery

The Sofirn SC33 runs on a removable 21700 battery; the SureFire EDC2-DFT runs on a removable 18650 battery. For scale, a 21700 cell is about 21 × 70 mm and a 18650 about 18 × 65 mm (nominal).

Price

When we checked on Nov 4, 2026, the Sofirn SC33 was from $41.99 at flashlightgo.com and the SureFire EDC2-DFT from $287.00 at batteryjunction.com, so the Sofirn SC33 cost $245.01 less. Prices change often, so check the current price before you buy.

Type

Both are EDC lights in our catalog with a tube body.

Which should you buy?

Choose the Sofirn SC33 if you want a shorter light (19 mm shorter) and more output (5,200 lm vs 700 lm). On the specs we track, the Sofirn SC33 is ahead or level everywhere; the SureFire EDC2-DFT makes sense mainly if its price, interface or a feature we don't track suits you better. We compare published size, weight, output, throw and battery only, not runtime, interface or build quality.
